Myopia (Nearsightedness)

Myopia (also known as nearsightedness) is a common condition. Between 30 and 40 percent of adults in the US suffers from some level of myopia. When your eyeball or cornea is too long, the outer layer of your eyeball becomes overly curved. The light that enters your eye will not be able to focus. This can cause blurred vision. People usually start noticing symptoms of myopia in their childhood. Symptoms include:

  • Headaches
  • Squinting
  • Eyestrain
  • Eye fatigue

Hyperopia (Farsightedness)

Hyperopia (also known as farsightedness) is a condition that causes you to see things that are far away better than things that are close to you. If your eye is too short, or the power to focus is weak, it will prove to focus on subjects up close and cause things to look blurry. Symptoms include:

  • Trouble concentrating on nearby objects
  • Blurry vision
  • Eyestrain
  • Headaches

Presbyopia (Multifocal)

Presbyopia (also known as multifocal) is gradually losing the ability to focus on things close to you. It is natural as you get older. It usually starts in your 40s and can worsen until you turn around age 65. The easiest way to tell if you are suffering from presbyopia is if you begin to hold things further away to focus on them. Symptoms include:

  • Needing to hold books further from your face to read it
  • Blurred vision
  • Eye strains
  • Headaches
